He Heeded Not The Sand

Deep in a mystic thicket,
There lay a mighty Scroll,
Who's writings were most sacred
And revealed man's destined role.
It lay in solo-slumber
On a tree stump, old, but yet,
God's eyes were watching always,
For a servant to come get.
And soon, in God's great wisdom,
There came a curious man,
Who stumbled on the calling
According to the plan.
Then God sent trusted angel,
To deliver up the quest,
And said these words aloud,
To the new-acquainted guest:
"This Scroll, who lies here dormant,
Must be taken and reviewed,
Then shared with all His children,
So all can be renewed.
However, be here warned,
When, with duty, reach your hand,
If it's full of faithless act,
You'll be smitten into sand."
Then came a deadly silence,
Thereafter, and in plain,
As the man sized up the Scroll,
And said these things in vain:
"I do not feel I'm qualified,
I can not play this part.
I'd ruin all that's asked of me."
(And he felt it in his Heart)
However, sensing duty,
He stretched forth shaky hand,
And as he did so, faithless,
He was smitten into sand.
Soonafter, came another,
Who ventured accidental
Into the scene of Glory,
And heard same message gentle.
The which, he hearkened hardly
And came its contents bugging,
But he mustered up his ego
And then, he said, while shrugging:
"I do not feel I'm qualified,
I can not play this part,
But never will I know it true,
Unless I made a start!"
Then, with an act spontaneous,
So whimsical and grand,
He reached just like the former,
And added to the sand.
Then years of precious waiting,
Turned bushes into beach,
And, of the sappy oak trees,
Turned palms stretched out of reach,
For sand, there, was abundant,
And a sea of pride did drown,
All who had come there nervous,
And their confidence was down.
But came one mighty man,
Leaving footprints in the mounds;
With a heart of gold, and a will of steal,
Set foot on Holy grounds.
Then heard the message boldly,
And instead of seeing problem,
Scooped hand of grit, looked up, and said:
"I'll do it all for them."
"I MAY not feel I'm qualified,
I MIGHT not play this part,
Yet it's not my whit to lean on,
But God's, my doubt depart."
And when he reached forth, certain,
He heeded not the sand,
Then left to do the Lord's will,
For the Scroll was in his hand.
