My Jacket

It's Friday and, as promised, here's a poem!

Just to preface, this poem is not about me or anyone I know haha. It has intended meaning, of course, but it's about some fictional characters.

I tried to create some imagery with this one without using specific rhyme or meter. Notice the use of the format and let me know in the comments what you think the signifigance of the formatting is.

Additionally, I was trying to see how much of a story I could tell with minimal explanation or set up. Much like the minimalistic story: "for sale: baby shoes, never worn." So, with that in mind...

Here ya go! (Be sure to tune in next week!)

"My Jacket"

It was my favorite jacket:

Fleece and all,

Perhaps because it was the only thing concealing my vulnerability

From the winds of guilt

And rains of grief.

That was, until

It lost all sense of warmth

After I pulled a strand of her hair

From the unforgiving hood.
